DR TIM MATTHEWS

Orthopaedic Surgeon

MBBS, FRACS (Ortho)

Dr. Tim Matthews is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon helping patients across the Northern Rivers and Clarence Valley regions of New South Wales.

Dr Matthews earned his medical degree from Sydney University and then went on to complete his specialist orthopaedic training under the Australian Orthopaedic Association across the Sydney Metro area, with regional placements in Lismore and Orange NSW.

In 2021, Dr. Matthews graduated from his orthopaedic training, marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. To further expand his knowledge and refine his surgical techniques, he embarked on a fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Toronto Western Hospital, as part of the prestigious University Hospital Network in Toronto, Canada. This fellowship provided Dr. Matthews with specialised training in a range of areas, including hip and knee replacement surgery, revision surgery, minimally invasive anterior hip replacement, and robotic surgery.

Following this, he returned to Australia and with his family, now calls the Northern Rivers home.

Dr Matthews treats both public and private patients. He holds a visiting medical officer (VMO) appointment with the Local Northern NSW Health District and operates at the Lismore Base Hospital and the Casino and District Memorial Hospital.

He also operates privately at St Vincent’s Hospital, Lismore.
